UNITED4Surveillance roadmap is live!

As UNITED4Surveillance ends in June 2026, we are pleased to present our final deliverable of the project: the interactive UNITED4Surveillance Roadmap. Based on results and recommendations throughout the project, this roadmap serves as a user-friendly, easy accessible guide for Member States to improve their integrated infectious disease surveillance, both now and in the future. The roadmap is available through the homepage of the UNITED4Surveillance project website.

By putting our results into context of the ECDC Long-term surveillance framework, we highlight the progress we have made in effectively responding to cross-border health threats from infectious diseases in line with European strategy and vision. Several pieces of the puzzle have been put in place, though some areas still need further attention.

We developed tools and guides which are easily and open-source accessible through the Topic-specific roadmaps Outbreak detection, Hospital surveillance or One Health surveillance. For example, a Signal Detection Tool for defining clusters and outbreaks. Or, for visualizing your case and genomic data in a Laboratory reporting platform.

Our mission to strengthen infectious disease surveillance for Member States to be better prepared for future health threats continues. This roadmap for improved integrated infectious disease surveillance not only supports and showcases that mission, it also sparks future collaboration and unites countries to face future challenges together.
