UNITED4Surveillance presented in the 16th European Public Health Conference 2023

On the 10th of November, 2023 NVSC (the National Public Health Centre under the Ministry of Health from Lithuania, one of the UNITED4Surveillance consortium members) participated in the 16th European Public Health Conference. 

As one of the panelists, NVSC presented UNITED4Surveillance in the workshop Fit for purpose surveillance – strategies to implement effective surveillance systems in EU/EEA countries under the new Serious Cross Border Health Threats Regulation (2022/2371) within the track Fighting Infectious Diseases: Epidemiology, Pandemic, Vaccines.

During the session the following topics were presented:

  • the new European Health Union legislative package, its value for Infectious Disease Surveillance in Europe, and strategies to implement it by DG Sante;
  • strategies for a fit for purpose surveillance in Europa and the ECDC Surveillance Strategy by ECDC;
  • the Joint Action UNITED4Surveillance for Union and National Capacity Building for Integrated Surveillance in EU Member States – current work and interim results by NVSC.


After the presentations the audience, together with the representatives from European Commission, DG SANTE, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and UNITED4Surveillance, had a possibility to discuss about the possibilities and next steps to improve EU Surveillance Systems.
