Best practice of the UNITED4Surveillance presented at the NVSC 10th anniversary event

On 16 of June 2026, an event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the National Public Health Centre under the Ministry of Health, Lithuania took place: “10 Years of Protecting Public Health: Experiences, Challenges, Future.” During the event the experience accumulated over the past decade was reviewed, origins and history were remembered, insights on public health challenges and identified future directions were shared.


Greetings were delivered by the Chair of the Committee on National Security and Defence of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Adviser to the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, Vice-Minister of Health; as well as colleagues, friends, and partners. During the round table discussion thoughts, proposals, and insights on the most relevant public health issues were raised and provided more knowledge and understanding of the importance of building trust and creating a modern institution that meets the needs of society, the use of data and data-driven decision-making, the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, and Lithuania’s situation in the European context.


Particular attention was given to international cooperation and participation in Joint Actions. The UNITED4Surveillance was presented as a good practice example, through which countries strengthen the use of data, information exchange, and cooperation among relevant institutions in order to enhance infectious disease surveillance at both national and international levels.
